Nature Education Programs

Nature Programs for Early Learners | 2016-2017

The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority offers quality outdoor and environmental education programs for preschool age children (2 to 4 years old). Children experience a connection to nature through songs, puppets, exploring, stories, games and hands-on activities. The Nature Program fosters a strong connection to nature by guiding children with their head, heart and hands.

The Nature Programs takes place in the beautiful seasons of fall, winter and spring in three week blocks that allow children a chance to make friends and feel at home in the beautiful forest, field and wetland spaces of Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area.

Location

Programs take place at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area (2 km north of Hwy. 401, Division Street, Kingston).

Nature Programs for Home Learners | 2016-2017

Come explore the wild spaces of Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area with other home learners. Qualified and experienced instructors will teach children ages 6 to 14 about nature and conservation. Children will be specifically placed in age appropriate groups according to the ages we get. Younger and older children will be grouped in similar ages. At times, the program will run with the entire group to mix up the learning and experience. Children will come away with new nature knowledge and a greater connection to the natural world. This is a drop-off program.

New this year: Body, Mind and Spirit and our Surprise theme days! Our Body theme day focuses on hiking to new spaces and places. Our Mind theme day focuses on games that connect to the season and current nature discoveries and facts. Our Spirit theme day focuses on sensory activities, exploration, stories, nature art, music making and slow rambling. Lastly, our Surprise theme day will involve a special surprise activity!
